What Is Block Fee Pricing?

Law Point’s Block Fee pricing model is unique in the legal services profession. It is a single “block” fee that we quote you upfront before you choose Law Point. Your Block Fee represents the total amount that you will pay for our legal services, from when you first contact us, to when we help you walk out of court as a satisfied client.

 

Legal Aid

Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) is a publicly funded and publicly accountable non-profit corporation, responsible for administering the legal aid program in the province of Ontario, Canada. Through a toll-free number and multiple in-person locations such as courthouse offices, duty counsel and community legal clinics, the organization provides more than one million assists to low-income Ontario residents each year. At Law Point we openly accept Legal Aid Certificates and will fight tirelessly for your cases.

 

Individual Pricing

At the initial meeting, your lawyer will talk to you about the anticipated costs involved in resolving your issue. It can sometimes be difficult to predict, but your lawyer should be able to give you a fairly good idea of what to expect.

​If circumstances change at any time, then our staff will make sure you are aware of the situation, and will explain the cost implications going forward.

​As every legal problem is unique, the costs can vary per individual case.

Mortgage Refinance

Our Legal Fee Includes:

  • Review of the Title search
  • Review of Status Certificate, if applicable
  • Review of lender mortgage instructions
  • Communication with the Title Insurance Company on your behalf
  • Preparation of all legal mortgage documentation
  • All standard office disbursements such as paper, faxes, long distant charges and alike
  • Full access to your lawyer & law clerk via telephone and/or email

Selling Real Estate

*Plus H.S.T. and Law Society Transaction Levy ($65 + HST)

Our Legal Fee Includes:

  • Review of the Agreement of Purchase & Sale
  • Discharge of one mortgage/line of credit
  • Communication with realtor’s office re: commission payments
  • Preparation of all legal sale closing documentation
  • All standard office disbursements such as couriers, paper, faxes, long distant charges and alike
  • Full access to your lawyer & law clerk via telephone and/or email

Buying Real Estate

*Does not include Land Transfer Tax (LTT) or Municipal Land Transfer Tax (City of Toronto only) or Government Registration, Fees and H.S.T.
